    Transborder freight between the U.S. and other North American countries (Canada and Mexico) in February 2020:Total Transborder freight: $95.9 billion of transborder freight moved by all modes of transportation, up 1.9% compared to February 2019.Most-used mode: Trucks moved $60.8 billion of freight, up 0.9% compared to February 2019Second most-used mode: Railways moved $14.4 billion of freight, up 10.3% compared to February 2019TransBorder freight in February declined 1.2% from January, which is a smaller decline than the 1.5% decline a year earlier between January 2019 and February 2019.

    U.S. airlines carried an estimated 79.0 million systemwide (domestic and international) scheduled service passengers in January 2020, seasonally-adjusted, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics’ (BTS), up 0.1% from December.BTS is withholding the scheduled release of estimated U.S. airlines’ traffic data for February and March because the estimates are statistical forecasts based on previous trends. The estimates do not account for the impact of the coronavirus.

    The 22 U.S. scheduled passenger airlines employed 3.6% more workers in February 2020 than in February 2019:February’s 458,832 full-time equivalents (FTEs) was up from the previous month’s employment total in January 2020 (456,398 FTEs) and was the highest FTE total for any month since February 2003 (460,852 FTEs).  February was the 76th consecutive month that U.S. scheduled passenger airline FTEs exceeded the same month of the previous year.

    U.S. airlines carried 6.7% more scheduled service passengers in February 2020 than in February 2019, according to preliminary data filed with the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) by the 25 airlines that carry the most passengers.The 25 airlines carry 99% of the total passengers traveling on U.S. airlines.
